Won't You Be My Neighbor?

On this day back in 2003, Fred Rogers died of cancer at age 74. That was a sad day. I love Mr. Rogers. My boys have outgrown King Friday, Lady Elaine, and Daniel Tiger and moved on to Spongebob, Spongebob, and more Spongebob. But I always loved watching Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood with them when they were toddlers. Picture-picture was my favorite while the boys liked storytime and the trolley.

But I have to admit that whenever Robert Troll was on, I cringed everytime he spoke (he was the double-talking troll), much like my reaction to Patrick Star, who gives a bad name to starfish everywhere.

My girls never like Mr. Rogers which made me sad because I loved watching it when I was a kid. All my kids want to watch is Hannah Montana and all those Disney shows and yes Spongbob too.

I watched Mr. Rogers (and my all time fav Captain Kangaroo I may add) when I was little which was like 40 yrs ago. My kids never got into Mr. Rogers I think because it was so calm much unlike the rest of the shows with bright colors and always on the go,go, go. You know?

Mr. Rogers was a speaker at my college graduation. It was soooo cool.... imagine 20 thousand graduates singing "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.." One of the best days of my life, for sure!

I LOVED Mr. Rogers, and my kids did too, when they were very small. I just loved his calming voice, and I loved when Speedy Delivery arrived. I was a bit disturbed by the King, so that wasn't my favorite part...lol.

To your commenter Sheila, I loved Capt. Kangaroo too, and Mr. Greenjeans!

I loved Mr. Rogers. I think of him often when I go into the closet at school to put on my school sweater.

I was a big Mr. Rogers fan too. I have a secret crush on Spongebob too. He cracks me up.

I had nightmares about that troll fellow as a child. There's something profoundly not right about him. I'm glad you felt confident enough to bring this up!
